I have been an English teacher in China for nearly two years I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy teaching. I do believe it¡¯s a noble profession helping people whatever age and background to learn. Teaching English is not just about letting students repeat words. It¡¯s about making sure they understand the meaning of the words, and using them in the right way. It about listen, pronuciation, grammar and communication. I have taught in manys schools all with their own styles and books. There are three levels and three types of students ¢ÅBeginning ¢ÆIntermediate ¢ÇAdvance ¢Åchildren ¢Æteenagers ¢Çadults
As a beginner I like to teach words with pictures like colours, red, yellow, green, so they can see the words which I find effective . Also I teach simple sentences like ¡°Hello,How are you?I¡¯m fine.¡± In the intermediate, I like to teach everyday sentences and Wh- words. Where , What , When , Who , why Where are you going? What are you doing? Who is that? When are we going to the zoo? Why don¡¯t we play a game?
I also like to let my students start to think for themselves instead of using the book. In my advance class, no books, just free talk, think of a subject and talk about it, correcting grammar, using two different word to mean the same thing. E . g tug pull.
Adults have a more cagey attitude to learning. They are scared to make mistakes incase they feel shame (I everyone make mistakes, that what life is about making mistakes but be able to correct that) 2 THERE IS NO SHAME) I myself is learning Chinese, which I find difficult and I don¡¯t want to make mistake too, but I do, No body is perfect.
Teehagers I find they don¡¯t want/like to learn English it might not be cool. So I try to be silly in the class make it funny for them. Let them laugh at me (adults, teenagers and children). That way if people laugh at them , they don¡¯t mind. I find that works ok. Teaching English to adults or teenagers, is work in itself but to teach English to kindergarten is a challenge, It does however has it rewards as in hearing them speak English and seeing the eager looks on their faces as they want to learn more.

Oxford baby bilingual is a new kindergarten opened. Just over a month ago. The students love to learn things and still have time to enjoy what the kindergarten has to offer. The headmaster knows the need of the students and teachers alike and is always ready to help. The teachers have the patience and stamina to keep up with the children. The English teachers are very good when it comes to helping me to teach English they seem to read my thoughts. Not many English teachers can claim that. The students shout out to me what they have learnt as I walk into class just to let me know they can speak English. It¡¯s not just repeating words as I said before the games is an important part of learning too. I believe the children will learn more if they¡¯re happy and excited.
I¡¯m happy that I¡¯m in china teaching, I hope that I will be teaching for many more years to come.
