The China Dalian Import & Export Commodities Fair and Dalian International Industrial Expo opened yesterday in Dalian, a coastal city of Northeast China's Liaoning province.

During the three day fair, nearly 1,000 exhibitors will display their products in Dalian World Expo Center and Dalian Xinghai Convention & Exhibition Center.

Begun in 1987, the 22 year old industrial fair has developed into a major regional event, boosting trade as well and the opening up of Liaoning province and even the whole region of Northeast China, said Li Wancai, Vice Governor of Laioning province, at the opening ceremony.

Dalian boasts a competitive equipment manufacturing industry. It is the frontrunner city in China's policy of reviving its Northeast old industrial base.
