The Shenyang Aircraft Industry Corporation under China Aviation Industry Corporation I yesterday won a contract to manufacture a new model of light aircraft for the United States-based Cessna Aircraft Company.

The two companies signed a contract yesterday in Beijing. Cessna will be responsible for designing and quality supervision, and its Chinese partner will be responsible for manufacturing, assembling and test-flying the plane.

The first aircraft produced in Shenyang will be handed over to Cessna next November, which already has 900 orders -11 from flight training schools in China. It is estimated that a maximum of 700 aircraft will be produced in Shenyang each year in the future.
