Some 13,000 police officers gathered on April 8 in the Shenyang Governmental Square to take part in the “performing-duty ceremony for reinforcement and extension of the gridding patrol protection network in Shenyang”.

The network was initiated 3 years ago in 2004 and has proved to be very successful. The rate of the preventable crimes of six categories  declined by 26.7% from 2004 – 2006.

Now the network is upgraded to 4 levels, that is to say, 13,000 police forces consisting of the community police, the patrol police, the traffic police, the special police, the armed police, the police forces for public communications and the members of the community security protection teems will join forces and hit the streets everyday to safeguard the local residents.
