Dad's last Olympic wish
I could not help shouting "Long live China" and embracing people when witnessing (Juan Antonio) Samaranch's announcement confirming Beijing's successful bid to host the 2008 Olympic Games, in front of the TV seven years ago.
My dad was a big soccer fan. He was sick at the time, but often told me: "My son, if our home city Shenyang holds the Olympic soccer competition, I hope you can wheel me into the venue to watch the event."
Two years later he passed away.
With the Olympic Games approaching, my heart aches every time dad's words resound in my ears. Dear dad, I wish I could say to you that I could realize your wish, although you have not seen the Olympic soccer venue in Shenyang Olympic Sports Center Stadium, or witnessed the Olympic flame travel around the world.

President Liu, what a joke
The vice-president of a company, surnamed Liu, was an Olympic torchbearer in a county of Guangxi. All the employees stood along the route during the firm's torch relay rehearsal.
"Go! President Liu! Go!" one of them shouted. Then other employees repeated the shout one after another. It was like an overdone comic scene. They treated this man like an Olympic athlete, or were they just licking his boots?

Drinking in Olympics
There are less than two months to go before the Beijing Games. With Olympic pictures and slogans everywhere, the Olympic atmosphere is heating up. Today, I bought an exquisite cup on which were printed five Olympic mascots. I love this cup because I will be reminded of the Olympic Games every time I use it.
