Dalian Zhoushanzi International Airport, in Northeast China's Liaoning Province, served 7.281 million passengers and dealt with 122,000 tons of cargo and mail and flew 63,000 flights in 2007, up 15%, 12% and 12% over 2006 respectively.
Of the total passenger throughput last year, 1.71 million were on across-nation trips, up 20%. 16,000 international flights were launched. The airport ranked fourth in the county after Beijing Capital International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport; and did first in Northeast China and the area around the Bohai Sea.
The airport, which now opens 121 routes and launches over 1,600 flights each week operated by 29 airline companies, anticipates its passenger throughput to rise by 14% to 8.3 million, cargo and mail throughput by 10.7% to 135,000 tons and operated flight number by 15.8% to 73,000. It plans to serve 11 million passengers, handle 180,000 tons of cargo and mail and fly 90,000 flights as its 2010 goal.
