Nine in custody as police bust drug ring
Police in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, busted a drug ring last week, arresting all nine members after a tip-off.
They spent several days staking out the operation after receiving a tip-off from a woman whose husband is a drug addict.The man blew his family's 2 million yuan (US$255,321) in savings on his drug addiction, causing his wife a lot of grief.

Escaped pigs cause traffic mayhem
A truck slammed into a guardrail on a highway in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province, last week as the driver tried to dodge pigs on the road ahead.
Drivers behind the accident had to brake suddenly to allow the pigs to pass and avoid a pile-up.
The pigs escaped from a truck that had overturned further up the highway just minutes before.

Couple wage war on poster advertisers

An elderly couple in their 80s have taken it upon themselves to rid their residential area of advertising posters in Dalian, Liaoning Province.
The two have removed 60,000 ads using homemade tools to scrape them off public property as they walk around the area to keep fit.
The couple are undeterred by threats from those posting the ads they even ran after a group with their arms full of the ads they had removed.

Loyal wife helps sick husband to eat
A 70-year-old woman has spent the past three years assisting her husband to eat in a remote town in Chaoyang, Liaoning Province.
The man, 78, is bedridden with cerebral thrombosis and is unable to eat by himself. It takes the woman more than two hours to hand-feed her husband.
"After living together for over 50 years, I'm happy to take care of him now, " she said.

Vendor in custody over pirated porn
A man is in custody after he sent a promotional text message for his pirated pornographic DVDs to the wrong person a police officer.
The Beijing man was later caught red-handed when plain-clothes police turned up to buy his DVDs.
He was arrested after a number of pirated DVDs were found at his home in Beijing's Xuanwu District.
