A woman surnamed Zheng from the rural area of Shenyang, Liaoning province convicted of supplying false documents for 115 illegal border crossings from 2005 to 2006, was sentenced to 13 years in prison on Monday.
Zheng helped 115 people travel abroad by producing false documentation verifying that the illicit travelers had relatives in the target countries. Her connections in the travel trade helped her to pull the wool over embassy official eyes. Zheng is alleged to have earned more than 700,000 yuan ($102,000) from this fraudulent practice.
